چکیده
In the ballistic regime we study both semiclassically and quantum mechanically electron's dynamics in two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) presence of an inhomogeneous magnetic field applied perpendicular to plane. The is constant inside four separate circular regions which are located at corners a square side length larger than diameter circles, while outside circles zero. We carry out stability analysis periodic orbits for given initial conditions numerically calculate invariant torus embedded four-dimensional phase space. Applying Bohr--Sommerfeld Einstein--Brillouin--Keller semiclassical quantization methods obtain energy levels different strengths. also perform exact calculations solving discretized version Schr\"odinger equation. our calculations, consider only those bound states that localized neighborhood disks. show results good agreement with found from calculations. Moreover, current distribution wave functions enable us deduce two numbers $n_1$ $n_2$ characterizing methods. Finally, present examples state shows similar structure previous states, but these special following sense. One them scar orbit this already unstable. case other state, density circulating rings opposite direction. Thus, it not consistent classical motion orbit.

Quantum interference of magnetic edge channels activated by intersubband optical transitions in magnetically confined quantum wires.
We investigate the photoresistance of a magnetically confined quantum wire in which microwave-coupled edge channels interfere at two pinning sites in the fashion of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The conductance is strongly enhanced by microwave power at B = 0 and develops a complex series of oscillations when the magnetic confinement increases. Both results are quantitatively explained by the ...
متن کاملRunaway expansion in magnetically confined electron plasmas
Magnetic confinement of neutral plasmas in a tokamak is one of the most promising avenues for generating power via nuclear fusion. Plasma disruption and energy loss, however, continue to cause problems even as larger experimental plants are being built. In particular, cyclical disruption of the plasma’s core electron temperature is a persistent but poorly explained phenomenon. In this paper, I ...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Wall Torques from Magnetically Confined Plasmas
A direct method to measure the localized magnetic shear stress and hence electromagnetic torque or force exerted on a wall by a fluctuating magnetic field is presented. A model of the wall is needed when the magnetic measurements do not include the normal component. Explicit formulas for thin and thick walls are given. Estimates of the force in illustrative Alcator C-Mod tokamak plasmas provide...
متن کاملMicrostability of magnetically confined electron-positron plasmas.
It is shown that magnetically confined electron-positron plasmas can enjoy remarkable stability properties. Many of the microinstabilities driving turbulence and transport in electron-ion plasmas are absent if the density is so low that the Debye length is significantly larger than the gyroradius. In some magnetic configurations, almost complete linear stability may be attainable in large parts...
